EMDR

I offer EMDR therapy to adults in Brighton and online across the UK. I am a UKCP-accredited psychotherapist with specialist training in EMDR and attachment-focused EMDR, and I work particularly with trauma, developmental trauma, PTSD and CPTSD.

EMDR is a gentle but effective way of helping the brain and nervous system process experiences that remain overwhelming or unresolved.

What Is EMDR?

When something frightening or overwhelming happens, the brain may not be able to fully process the experience. Instead, it can remain “stuck”, continuing to affect how you feel, think, and respond in the present.

EMDR supports the brain’s natural ability to process these experiences, helping reduce distress and allowing the past to feel more firmly in the past. You remain present and in control throughout the process, and work always takes place at a pace that feels safe.

EMDR can be offered as a stand-alone approach or integrated into ongoing psychotherapy, depending on your needs.

Attachment Focussed EMDR

For many people, trauma is not linked to a single event but to early or repeated experiences, often within important relationships. This can affect emotional regulation, self-esteem, and the ability to feel safe with others.

Attachment-focused EMDR adapts standard EMDR to work carefully with early relational experiences. The focus is on safety, pacing, and repair — helping the nervous system learn that support and connection are possible.

This approach can be especially helpful for people experiencing CPTSD, long-standing anxiety, shame, or difficulties in relationships.

Working With the Nervous System

Trauma is held not only in memory, but in the nervous system. In EMDR work, we pay close attention to regulation, grounding, and your capacity to stay within what feels manageable.

By strengthening regulation first, EMDR becomes not only about processing the past, but about building greater stability, resilience, and choice in everyday life.
